Bra Fit 101
Do I dare discuss bra fit on my PG rated blog?
I’m not sure I am cut out to post something so personal but, in the spirit of getting out of my box, I am going to do it.
This past weekend I took my 13-year-old daughter to Victoria’s Secret for a bra fitting. (She is going to kill me for writing that.) We both need strapless bras for our bridesmaid dresses. (More about that in Obese, Over 50 and a Bridesmaid.)
I decided while I was there I should also get fitted. It turns out that I have been wearing the wrong size my entire adult life.
Without going into any detail of my measurement issues (way too personal for the World Wide Web), I will just fill you in on what I learned.
Bra Fit 101
Get ready! The secret is in the band measurement. Apparently, it is supposed to be snug to keep the weight off of your shoulders. Who would have thunk it? That explains the permanent indentations in my shoulders. While I am not a fan of the “boa constrictor” feel of a snug band I guess there is something to be said for getting the weight off of my shoulders. See what I did there? Weight off my shoulders.
Anywho, that is all I have to say about that! Hopefully this will help if you have any shoulder weight issues.
Until next time…
